Brief update

Hello!

Been meaning to blog about my trip to Beijing but really have not been able to squeeze the time in between. If I am not sleeping, I am either slogging long hours at Starbucks or occupied with other activities. This week, I will be participating in a Interbuddhist sports event (cant remember the name) and had captain ball practice earlier. Would be great if the flu did not decide to attack me at this point of time. Since I missed my previous two pole-dancing classes, the following week will be filled with replacement classes as well. Barely even recovered from the muscle ache from the other day's class and there is tomorrow's class awaiting!

Have been trying hard to get focused on my project paper. The good thing is, I have found a topic to work on. Yup, no more changing my mind anymore. The bad news is, besides thinking up a topic, I have barely started. Will seriously need to begin one of these days. Due date - 10 September. No joke.

Well that is all for now. Needa get a few hours of rest before I rush off to work. Pinkie promise that I will be back with a 101 guide on travelling to Beijing.

*Really wanna recover from my flu asap. Too many things on my hands now!*

Dum-dee-dum

I will be leaving to Beijing tomorrow. Really a different feeling compared to when I went to Guangzhou just a few months back.

Anyhow, I cant wait. Have been immersing myself in loads of history of late, special thanks to Chuan Lin who has recommended a very interesting Chinese drama as well as telling me all things historical, geographical and political about China!

Will be back with loads of pictures. Till then.

Balance

Baking can only take away so much of the boredom and deprivation I feel inside. Maybe it is because I have had too much of a good time in the past few months that many things I used to seek pleasure in the past is unable to give the same feeling anymore. Working at Starbucks has become a habitual routine that I fear would affect me once semester reopens and I have to quit. There are days when I am off from work and actually think about dropping by Subang Parade just to see if there is anything I can help out with in the shop.

Semester will begin next month and so many things are still in mid-way. Have yet to gain inspiration for my project paper which needs researching and writing before the 10 September, planning two trips simultaneously - one with my family to Beijing and another shorter and simply trip with friends around PJ. Can imagine a hectic semester ahead what with more student exchange programme activities going on.

But in the seriousness of it all, I dont resent my busy-ness. I like being busy, because it keeps me occupied. No doubt there are days, I look into the mirror and see those tired eyes glaring back at me, and I would be like "oh man, you really need a break" only to realise that I cant help it but keep myself occupied with things to do. If there is one thing I have discovered that is, boredom kills.

It is almost two months since I went to China. More than a month since I have returned home. But the memories will always remain. Before this, I never believed that it is possible to be close friends with people from foreign countries because of the language barrier. Acquaintances, roommates, friends maybe.. but close friends? I doubted that. But meeting the people there, especially two particular people, I might want to reconsider my opinion again. I posted about going to SCUT months ago (before going) saying how I had opted not to go in the previous batch but still ended up at SCUT the following year.. and someone even commented saying it was meant to be. That someone was right. Because if I had went the first time round, I would never had met these wonderful people and never would have had such a good time in China.

Ok enough with my ramblings. Basically, I just want to say, I am grateful and happy with what life has for me right now. And I just hope that equilibrium to remain.

Cristang @ 8 Avenue

'Day-off's from work are extremely precious to me. Eight out of 24 hours might not seem much each day, but it can sometimes be really draining. Anyway, I had a craving for chocolate molten cake. One entry after another eventually led me to food reviews about Cristang Restaurant. And it was scarily near my place. I couldnt resist dropping by the place for lunch!

My brother ordered Iced Lemon Tea. It came in a glass with a separate glass of syrup. Talk about personalising your own drink! And they even refill drinks for you!

A number of people started coming in for lunch around 12.30pm onwards.

This is the interior of the restuarant. Wooden tables and chairs with long mirrors at one side of the restaurant. Restaurant was a little on the dim end but it created a cozy and comfortable atmosphere.

And finally the highlight of the trip - PORK BURGERS.

Basically they have a whole list of burgers ranging from what they call P1 to P10. I had P4 The Petai Starter (RM 27.75) while my brother had P3 The Original (RM25.70).

Both burgers looked about the same. I guess the difference was in the flavour of the patty. Mine had a strong petai aroma to it. And before I forget, everything else about the burger was mouth-watering. The minced pork reminded me of spaghetti sauce flavour but it was very much melt-in-the-mouth texture. The buns were buttered and toasted, giving it a toasty feel to the burger. And the pickles went really well with the petai pork patty. Bun, cheese, petai pork patty, minced pork, vegetables and pickles and topped with another layer of bun.

Wedges were said to be very good by a number of bloggers but I felt that the burger had successfully outshone the wedges. Wedges were nice, but a little too small for my liking. I enjoyed the burger very much. They are not your typical grab-and-go burgers. Rather, they are meant for you to enjoy and savour each bite with as much care as possible. Portions a tad too small but that asides, everything else was fantastic.

We had Fried Butter Cake Anglaise (RM17.80) for dessert. I am usually not a fan of butter cake but this deserves compliments. The cake was moist and yet, the crumb was light and tender. Personally I felt that the butter cake tasted great, even on its own. But my brother felt that the ice-cream balanced out the flavours of the strawberry puree. Well, whatever it is, this dessert did not disappoint. Though a tad expensive, this would deserve a 5/5.

This is the place for you if...
You would like to go adventurous with your pork burger for lunch or dinner. And do conveniently try out their desserts too. They have Chocolate Molten Cake and rum bread pudding as well (which I have yet to try)!

One Off the Bucket List: Pole-dancing

Pole-dancing is...

Challenging.

Went for my first class today and I am now typing this with sore arms. There is just so much to learn, maybe because i am a beginner and I joined a class where everyone else has at least more experience in pole-dancing than me. You will be surprised at the type of people that attend the class. I can now officially say that pole-dancing isnt just for club dancers or whatnot. The people there were genuinely just dancers.

Learnt a few moves but havent really mastered it perfectly. The instructor was very encouraging. And I really enjoyed the class, despite the fact that my mom was watching my every move from across the room.

Well life has been busy. Will update real soon, when I have the time.
