Shin Kee Beef Noodles Specialist @ Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock

Da place.

Above picture taken from Motormouth. But if you know where Kedai Kopi Lai Foong or Pasar Seni is, then you would probably have a rough idea or even, have walked passed this place before.

I did a little research on Shin Kee upon coming back and was quite surprised with all the positive feedback about the place. So yea, I know they specialise in beef noodles and beef noodles arent as common as chicken rice or curry laksa. But still.. somehow for my taste buds, I felt the place was.. meh.

Anyhow, I must show you how popular it is. This was what the shop was like from the inside when we were waiting for our beef noodles.

I had lunch with a friend. He ordered dry mihun with noodles and 'ngau zhap' (Mixture of organs and stuff). And this is what came.. The brown stuff did look fairly delicious. (Picture below) I will order this the next time I come here.

 Another shot of it.

And I ordered my typical clear broth mihun with beef balls. (Picture below)

The balls were surprisingly springy and bouncy, although a tad too salty for my liking. The soup was light and clear, not too oily. Wouldnt rate it the best, nor is it the worst. However, what I did enjoy was their homemade chilli sauce. Bursting with flavour!

Everything is fixed at RM7.00. If you are looking for add-ons, it will be RM9.00 instead. The price must have increased over the years because looking at blog reviews written about it, some say it is RM5.00, others quote RM6.00. I suppose this place has gotten it's fair bit of popularity from all the blog entries written about it as well as due to the fact that it was listed as one of Malaysia's Most Wanted Food.

As for me, I am still hunting for the best beef noodles around. I prefer something with a more beef-y type of soup.

This is the place to go if...
You are craving for a good old bowl of beef noodles with minimal fuss.
