A Legal Eye-Opener

Day 1
Basically I didnt really know what to expect from the 15th Malaysian Law Conference. I just knew i wanted to try everything and expose myself to as many activities as possible.

It was very kind of Shan Ping, one of my law seniors, to accompany us to take the LRT to KLCC as it was our first time. MLC started in a really formal way with speeches from Mr. Lim Chee Wee, chairperson of OC, Mr. Ragunath, president of Bar Council, and Mr. Michael Kirby, former Chief Justice of Australia's High Court. I was particularly impressed by Mr. Kirby as he seemed to exude quite a charismatic personality. He is supposed to be 70+ but he looks nowhere that age!

We had many delicious treats throughout the day. For morning break, we had mini paus and almond croissants. As for the afternoon, if i am not mistaken, we had erm... something nice? Urgh. My memory is failing me.

I really enjoyed the afternoon session.. "Hard Talk on Human Rights". MLC invited people like Dato' Seri Ong Tee Keat, Dato' Zaid Ibrahim, Zainah Anwar, Mr. Nadeswaran, the Honourable Michael Kirby and Mr. James Nayagam. Not to forget, we had a very daring and sharp moderator in the name of Dato' Ambiga. I really love the questions posed by Dato' Ambiga and i admire her wit and guts in asking those questions to the speakers.

Day 2
Today was better than yesterday because of the night event..

The speeches throughout the day were so-so. The bunch of us went to watch a movie during our lunch break - "The Sorceror's Apprentice" under the insistence of Foo. The movie turned out to be pretty nice.. at least better than Twilight:Eclipse.

I dozed off during the afternoon session talk. *so embarassing*

I had the opportunity to see YAA Dato Seri Tun Zaki Tun Azmi (did i get the name right?), Dato Seri' Nazir Razak and Dato Seri' Abd Khalid Ibrahim today. (really hope i got it right) =)

And when we thought that the evening had ended, it had just started. On our way to catch the LRT, Miss Bhuvanes, from SmokeBall asked us to join them at Santinni to mingle with the other delegates from MLC!!! It was a really great opportunity and eye-opener for us and we really appreciate Miss Bhuvanes kind effort.. Met loads of people and got to savour many delicious food like the delectable fruit tart!!! haha.. Today really makes me look forward to tomorrow.

Tommorow, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim is coming in the evening. And after that session, Chiao Ying, Jo Rene and i are heading to the cinemas again to watch Salt!

THBT

This house believes that prostitution should be legalised in Thailand.

I had my first debate, ever in my life, yesterday. For those who were there, you would have witnessed a very short speech by a nerve-wreck that did not even know how to work her hand phone timer! Urgh.

I felt i could have done better but my mind was really scattered. It was like i had something to rebutt about the opposition but so many stuff came into my head at once and by the time i try to catch the ideas, they would already have flowed out of my brain. Is there anything that can help me clog the ideas in my head? Really need to work on organising my ideas.

Hmm..

Eclipse

I finally managed to watch Eclipse..

Met up with Chiao Ying, Jo Rene, and Wei Jiet at the faculty before departing to MV.
Strangely, i bumped into many CHS-ians there yesterday.. Kai Sheng, Cindy and her bf, just to name a few..

Eclipse did not match up to my expectation. Romance was loopy, barely any thrilling parts.. urgh.. The movie ended abruptly. Didnt really seem like a movie at all.. more like a sequel for the coming Twillight movie! :o

Either way, i had a great time with all you guys!

Oh ya.. and Justin Bieber's songs have been brought to my attention.. I just realised that "Baby" is sung by a guy and not a female! Oops.

Aaaahhh

I'm feeling really stressed right now. *sobs sobs*

I am succumbing to my urge of filling up every activity form that is stuck on the notice board! (not even considering whether i can cope). Haha.. minus the mock trial..

The lectures and tutorials are speeding past me before i even know it. Will it always be like this or is it just because i am still new? I hope it is the latter, if not... i really dunno whether i can cope..

None of the lecture topics seem familiar to me. Really worried!

PCK

Yesterday was Freshies' Nite and it was incredible!

Initially, i was dreading it because the theme for freshies was PCK and Auntie Rosie whereas the seniors could dress up to the nines like characters in Gossip Girl. But my mom seemed to know how to do what. Haha.. In one hour, i was transformed from boring Xin Lin to colourful Auntie Rosie.. *sends chills down my spine*

I was horrified to see that many people didnt really try. Especially the girls.. sort of made me look extra... clown-ish? Boohoo. Either i sucked it in and tried to make the best of my night.

Most of the performances were superb.. and the most memorable ones for me would be the cheerleading, pop/rock and traditional dances.. Apparently, i missed out on the best performance by MAcmillan - it was about advertisements.

The climax of the night was the announcement of Freshie King and Queen. It was really hilarious to listen to the answer of the nominees as they had to answer embarassing questions like "Which JKO do you think can satisfy you?" and "what style do you prefer?"Erm.. you get the idea.. In the end, Jubili and Jorene won the titles. Congratulations.. they deserved it.. (any of the nominees would have deserved it, actually..)

I won Best Dressed. But i guess it was also because many of the girls didnt try. Oh well.. one extra bar of chocolate for me.. ;p

my tired feet

So many things have been happening in the past week and the current week. I guess this is a part of my turning point in life.. and hopefully towards the better good!

Last week, I started the college orientation for UM. This week is the faculty's orientation. Both equally tiring - in different ways. As I have yet to complete my faculty's orientation, i dare not say too much about it except that it really has been an eye-opener and i have the seniors to thank for that. At times, they may be tough on us.. but i feel touched to see their soft side when we try to get their signature or when they ask if we have already eaten before a session.

As for the college orientation, I was very homesick initially.. although we had a very tight schedule and plenty of activities throughout the day, on most nights, my eyes refused to close.. I missed home.. The day would normally be like this.. Rise> Moral session> Exercises/Cheer> Briefings/Talks> More cheer> Lunch> Faculty trip> Sports/Recreation> Wash up> Dinner> Night activities> Briefing/Talk> Sleep

But really, we didnt have much time to eat and sleep. Most of the time was spent for activities and working on our cheer. In the end, it was all worth while because I really felt so strongly for 1st college i really didnt want to pack up my things on Saturday and leave! But due to personal reasons, i had to. Anyhow, I love first college. Believe it or not.

Chocolate Chip Orange Muffins

Do they look nice?
I originally planned to stuff a marshmallow piece in each muffin but because their sweetness was already just nice i couldn't bear to make it any sweeter.. They turned out surpisingly beautiful.. I must take note of the ratio of ingredients used so i can use it for my future muffins!

Batter
225g SRF
150g sugar
190g butter
4 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
Chocolate chips
Orange rind
Orange essence

The portion of sugar and butter can be altered depending on how health conscious you are. I already reduced it significantly. Original would be 225g for SRF, sugar, and butter.

On a different note, I have FINALLY started to pack my things for my orientation week.

A Little Entertainment

In this world, there are many characters... There are..
the HYPERACTIVE .. the type that just gets excited over everything.. and i mean everything..
the MANJA.. the people who just somehow is adored by everyone..
the LAUGHING.. the ones who are always cracking up jokes and spreading joy..

the SLEEPY aka LAZY.. who spend most of their days sleeping or snoozing..

erm... how about this..???

haha.. cant help it.. there's a new movie coming soon.. Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.. Cant wait!
